Honoring Women in Trucking: Celebrating Women's History Month at 6th Street Logistics

At 6th Street Logistics, we know that the trucking industry wouldn’t be where it is today without the strength, resilience, and leadership of women. This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to recognize the trailblazing women who have paved the way in transportation — and the incredible women who keep our company moving forward every day.

The Women Who Paved the Way

Women have played a vital role in trucking for over a century, even when the road wasn’t easy. Pioneers like Lillie Elizabeth Drennan, the first licensed female truck driver in the United States, challenged industry norms and proved that women could handle the demands of life on the road just as well as men. Drennan not only ran her own trucking company in the 1920s but also advocated for women’s inclusion in the industry — long before equal rights were even part of the national conversation.

In the 1940s, during World War II, thousands of women stepped up to fill trucking and transportation roles as men went off to war. The Women's Army Corps trained women to drive trucks, proving that women could handle heavy equipment with precision and skill. This laid the foundation for future generations of women to enter the industry with confidence and capability.

Strong Women of 6th Street Logistics

Today, women remain a driving force at 6th Street Logistics. From the office to the road, women are leading the way and helping shape the future of our company and the industry at large.

Our founder and owner, Krista Jans, has over 20 years of experience in the industry. Krista grew up seeing the inner workings of her stepdad’s trucking company, eventually managing the business herself before launching 6th Street Logistics. Her leadership, knowledge, and passion for trucking have helped create a company that values hard work, integrity, and community.

Our Office Manager, Brit Adams, is another powerhouse. Brit has been working alongside Krista for over 13 years and knows the business inside and out. Her ability to navigate the complexities of logistics with ease and her dedication to supporting drivers make her an invaluable part of our team.

Empowering the Next Generation

At 6th Street Logistics, we believe in creating opportunities for women in trucking — not just during Women’s History Month, but all year long. We actively work to recruit and support women drivers and staff, offering a family-oriented work culture, strong mentorship, and competitive opportunities for growth.

This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to celebrate the women of the past who made trucking possible — and the women of today who are shaping its future. To all the women of 6th Street Logistics and beyond — thank you for your strength, determination, and commitment. The road ahead looks bright because of you.

Happy Women’s History Month!
